Dog Training Classes in Metro Detroit and Ferndale
About the Class
Whether you want to work with your dog doing a fun new job, or think you want to eventually compete, this class series is for you! We’ll build a great foundation for working off-leash and develop a strong skill set for the basics in agility. This two part course will set the stage for you and your dog to have a good time no matter what you choose to do afterwards! We’ll work on setting your dog up to love weaves, tunnels, and make sure you get that form for jumps just right to prevent future injuries. In the second course, we’ll move on to adding complexity and difficulty as well as more obstacles such as the dog walk, teeter-totter, and A-frame. These classes fill quickly, so contact us today with any questions by emailing email@example.com or calling 248-607-9350
Intro to Agility does not have dogs in the first class. Why is that? We want to be able to understand you and your dogs needs before your dog is in the building, set goals, and communicate about what happens in class. Each class is different, and each dog is different. Our individualized approach to training means that we want to understand you and your dog thoroughly and be ready to provide you with the best possible experience. Many of our classes have you set a personal goal for you and your dog, and it’s much easier to talk through the goals and expectations without your dog present. Additionally, this one class period sets us up for success so that we can hit the ground running when your dog is in class. We try to get the talking out of the way on the first day, so that we can maximize class learning time for your dog. It’s hard to be worrying about your dog, keeping them comfortable and happy, and listening to the instructor at the same time. As instructors, we’ve all experienced the times we’ve sat in classes with our own dogs and our dogs just got increasingly bored and agitated while we listened to the instructor. We want to avoid that experience for you, so we have a single class with no dogs so we can go over everything we need to go over without an antsy puppy next to you. This is also a time to get to know your instructor, ask any questions you might have about your dog or the curriculum, and get to know our training space if you haven’t been here before.
