Dog Training Classes
FIDO Personal Dog Training offers a wide variety of classes and seminars for dog owners.
Next Class Semester Starts Week of November 4th-10th 2019
Want to take a class but not sure which one will be right for you and your dog? Take this four-week sampler class and try out several classes! In this class, you’ll meet the instructors and try out one of each of our fun adult dog classes each week. You’ll try out Agility, Nosework, Tricks, and Treibball and see which one you might want to take.
Need to work on some challenging behaviors with your dog, but can’t seem to find the time? Having a hard time fitting a class into your busy schedule? Let us come to you and work on your training goals while you’re at work!
Treibball (pronounced Try-Ball) is a terrific new way to play with your dog. The game consists of “herding” a number of large inflatable exercise balls into a soccer-like net. Of course the herding breeds come to mind, but it’s also great for any dogs who just like to chase things.
Does it seem like your dog has the memory of a goldfish, lasting only a couple of seconds? Do you struggle on walks with keeping your dog away from food on the ground or keeping them from lunging to greet other people or dogs?
Nosework is a fun and fast growing sport where dogs search for the smell of essential oil. The training for this sport is similar to drug or bomb detection dog training. The most amazing thing about this sport is how confident dogs become after learning and doing nosework!
Did you have a great time in Intro to Nosework and you’re ready to continue building on your skills and teamwork with your dog? Ongoing Nosework is for you. We’ll pick up where we left off in the last class, and start to add more difficult hides, solidifying an indication, outdoor searches, and searches that are blind for the handler. Continue to build your dogs confidence and your teamwork as you harness the all-powerful dog nose!
All you need is a computer, an online connection and a webcam, and you can meet with us to resolve your dog training and behavior issues. Your online dog training session will be booked at a time convenient for you and you don’t even need to live in the same area as our consultants! In fact we can meet with you from anywhere in the world!
Teaching your dog tricks is a great way to sharpen your training skills, build a bond with your dog and provide mental enrichment. Plus, it’s fun! We’ll build a foundation that will allow you to earn trick titles, show off to your friends, and be the coolest dog parent in town. Every tricks class participant will be eligible for their novice tricks AKC title, we’ll do the test at the last class!
Whether you want to work with your dog doing a fun new job, or think you want to eventually compete, this class is for you! We’ll build a strong foundation for working off-leash and develop a strong skill set for the basics in agility. This six week course will set the stage for you and your dog to have a good time no matter what you choose to do afterwards!
Did you have a great time in Beginner Agility and want to keep up the fun and action? Then Agility 2 is for you! We’ll continue building good foundations for competition in this six-week class. You need to have taken our Beginner Agility to register for this class.
If your dog has a hard time focusing and is easily distracted, let Canine Mindfulness take your relationship to the next level. In this class we’ll create a relaxed, ready-to-work energy from your dog, allowing you to enjoy public outings, classes, or even sports with your pup in a way you never imagined. We’ll use the most modern, science-based positive training techniques to get you and your dog into a real “zen” mode that will impress even the most skeptical friend.
Do you find walks with your dog or having guests over stressful? Take back your fun relationship with your dog in this two-part series of classes. Does your dog bark and lunge at people or other dogs outside? Does your dog bark and make your guests uncomfortable?
Sick of feeling like your arm is being pulled out of its socket while walking your pup? Do you look longingly upon friends and neighbors while they take a relaxing stroll with their pooch? This can be your future! In this 6 week class, we find fun and engaging ways to make walks more fun and less stressful. We’ll practice techniques inside and take the show on the road out in the neighborhood to be sure you feel prepared. Get started with more fun and less pulling today!
Register for Puppy Kindergarten A if your puppy is under 5 months old and has never taken a puppy class before. You can also register for this class if you have a 5 month old puppy that is a small breed or otherwise timid. The first semester you’ll take Puppy Kindergarten A, where you and your puppy will learn basic cues such as sit, down, touch, and others. Your puppy will get supervised play time with all the other puppies twice each class, and you’ll build social skills for your dog that will take him or her through to adulthood.
Your puppy is growing by leaps and bounds — and so is his brain! You’ll learn about the needs of your now “teenage” puppy as well as how this stage of growth and development plays into different behavioral issues. We will continue working on and strengthening the basic cues learned in Puppy 1 as well as adding new cues such as ‘on your spot,’ ‘watch’ and ‘leave it.’ We’ll also still have plenty of playtime to keep your pup’s socialization skills sharp!
If your dog has graduated from Puppy Kindergarten C, Puppy Elementary School, or Canine Basics and is between 6 and 18 months, continue his or her education with this class. You can also enroll in this class directly, but we recommend taking Elementary School or Canine Basics first. In Canine Middle School we’ll work to develop your dogs social skills, your ability to read canine body language, and play lots of fun games.
Take your puppy’s training beyond classes with our Play and Learn (PAL) program! The more we socialize, train and condition puppies during puppyhood, the better off they will be as adults.
For puppies that were part of our PAL program and/or have taken our Life Skills class, here is your opportunity to build on that foundation! Take your adolescent dogs training and skills beyond classes with our Teen Play and Learn (PAL) Academy program! The more we socialize, train and condition dogs during this sensitive adolescent period, the better off they will be as adults.
